For the driest state, in the driest continent, succulents are the great choice. Heat, drought and sun tolerant they don't come much hardier.

Combine those positives with the huge range of colours, sizes, shapes and forms that they come in and they go from being a great choice to a must have addition to create contrast, add colour or make a feature in any and every garden.

Not only are they great in the garden though, they also grow really well in pots and containers and many even make fantastic indoor plants like the mistletoe cactus varieties.
