Berry exciting Blueberries!

Well it was a long time coming but Blueberries are in stock in abundance and with a choice of varieties too. Sunshine Blue, Biloxi and Sharpe Blue are all great, low chill varieties that will fruit well in our climate and in your garden.

Blueberry plants prefer an acidic soil and one of the best ways to grow them is to grow one in a pot. Make sure you use an acidic potting mix like one for Camellias and Azaleas and choose a pot at least 30cm across. If you want to try grow one in the ground though mix in some acidic potting mix or acidifying sulphur when you plant.

You only need one plant to get fruit, as they are self pollinating but you cant have too much of a good thing and each variety will fruit at a slightly different time which means you'll have more blueberries for longer.
